How do I achieve the Spiff shave at home?

7 Tips to Get a Great Shave

Shave after the shower shaving should be your last step before exiting the shower. The moisture will soften the follicle and open your pores.
Lubricate pre-shave oils allow the blade to glide over your skin without scraping. Think of it as a gentle base coat before your shaving cream.
Later rub a dab of shaving cream with a shaving brush or the tips of your fingers raising the hair away from the skin.
Shave with the grain using your razor, with no pressure your blade will glide over your skin in the direction of hair growth. Remember change your blade often.
For stubborn hair reapply shaving cream and repeat shaving in the direction of the hairs growth. Around the neck where hair grows in different directions run fingers along the neck and follow the hairs unique pattern.
Rinse and rub moistened alum block against the skin to close pores and cleanse the skin.
Pat dry and apply after shave for a smooth soft finish.
